While this is certainly a tragedy, what struck me most about it is that Sarah Palin immediately made it something that was all about her.

There was an implicit assumption that the reason her former church was involved in arson was as retribution for her God-following ways. A sense of persecution, of suffering in God’s name, is a fundamental part of Christianism and Ms. Palin is at the top of her game here.
